Medicine for our Urban Relatives…
For the second year in a row, Roseau River First Nation citizen Shelley Anderson has brought a day of healing to those who call downtown Winnipeg home.
Shelley is with Indigenous Vision for the North End.
As part of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation last week, Shelley was joined by Elders, volunteers, friends, and allies. They went on a walk through the north end, offering smudge, water, food, and Every Child Matters t-shirts.
It’s no secret that Winnipeg’s core area is home to many who are still dealing with the traumas from colonization.
We honour Shelley for her heart and for helping reconnect some of our most vulnerable citizens to traditional healing and medicine. Chi-miigwetch!
