OBJECTIVE #4: Relationship Building: Positive respectful relationships create a strong foundation for continued successful outcomes for community engagement and change in the North End. Close working relationships are critical to community development. All parties involved in the ongoing renewal of the North End need to be kept aware of the changing needs of the community, the availability or lack thereof of adequate resources, progress made towards community goals, and successes and challenges to date.
We will work to create trust and healthy relationships with community members through one-to-one and group interactions.
We will encourage residents’ membership on committees and boards to help build relationships with Indigenous residents resulting in groups that are more diverse and reflective of the community they serve.
We will support the steering committee in developing stronger interagency relationships drawing on the collective wisdom, experience, and resources of its members to find collaborative solutions to issues facing the community.
We will expand its steering committee membership from 9 members to 11 to expand partnership opportunities and better reflect the diversity of the community.
We will participate on local committees and boards to build relationships with other organizations working to benefit the broader community. Examples include North End Votes, Selkirk Avenue Biz, Aboriginal Youth Opportunities, to name a few.
We will address barriers and gaps by conducting research, evaluation and documents to highlight the strengths and challenges the north end faces and build strategic partnerships to advance renewal efforts.
We will work to promote relationships with stakeholders such as the community police representative, local educational facilities, local businesses, municipal, provincial and federal political representatives, funders, and donors.
