The WRENCH Wheels of Courage Community Leadership Program

Wheels of Courage Returns!

The WRENCH is pleased to call for applications for our 4th year of Wheels of Courage. This is a leadership program for 15-30 year olds who are keen to serve. From program start until spring of 2023, participants will be supported to develop and carry out a project to benefit their community, while learning bike mechanic skills, enjoying cycling and workshops with notable community leaders. Popular workshops form previous years have included Indigenous Gardening, Carpentry, Naloxone Training, Safe Cycling, Public Speaking, Queer Activist History, zine making, and budgeting and personal finance. Participants will join a group of like-minded youth from diverse experiences and backgrounds, and learn about community leadership, and creating positive change.

Are you self-motivated, passionate, curious, open to new experiences and ideas, and self reflective? Do you value cooperation over competition? Looking for a challenge? Wheels of Courage is for you!

We're really proud of the accomplishments of program participants. Together, they have created public murals and art pieces, produced helpful zines on current issues, fundraised for partner organisations, created community gardens, and more.

Past participants offer the program high praise. They report feeling much more connected to and at home in their community, empowered to make change, and inspired by what is already happening in Winnipeg, and what is possible.

Applicants should be ready to commit to 2-3 hours per week to program activities over the course of a year. Apply through thewrench.ca before May 6, 2022.

The WRENCH is grateful for generous support for Wheels of Courage from Canada Services Corps!
