Message from your Indigenous Vision for the North End Team

October 6 IVNE National Week for Truth and Reconciliation.jpg

From your Indigenous Vision for the North End team,

The last week has been busy, heavy and difficult. Thank you to our community partners for joining us for Smudge the North End. Thank you to our friends who wore orange shirts to honour residential school survivors and those who didn’t make it home. Thank you to the families who we have the privilege to stand beside while you share your memories and demand justice for the missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and 2-spirit people.

As many indigenous people know, our work doesn’t stop after these national days are over. Our trauma doesn’t go away. We must continue to do more and we can achieve great things together.

What can you do? Push for the implementation of the 94 Calls to Action in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the 231 Calls for Justice identified by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.

As Indigenous women who love this community, we will continue to be present and visible. We will continue to learn and promote the beautiful Indigenous ways of knowing and being and we will continue to create safe spaces for community members.

We <3 North End
